Sparks fly. Metal crunches. Robots go to war.
The NRL 2019 National Competition will be taking place Friday night, May 17 and all day on Saturday, May 18 at the California University of Pennsylvania. For the past year, student teams from across the country used their intelligence and machine skills to create the ultimate robot that dishes out the most damage while being able to withstand destruction from its opponents. These remote-controlled Bots weigh 15lbs and by using a variety of weapons and tactical actions fight in a high tech arena protected by steel and bulletproof polycarbonate plastic.
Ask a competitor about NRL, and the first thing you hear isn’t likely to be anything about applied math, in-game testing or machining parts. Instead, you’ll see heartening wins, crushing losses and Bots inflicting maximum carnage during each and every battle. And yet, underneath it all, school-age team members are getting a real-world technical education. Many, in the process, are being introduced to career options they may never have considered otherwise.
If you love mechanical mayhem and thrilling competition and want to see the future of manufacturing in action, then the NRL National Competition is the one robotic STEM event of the year you do NOT want to miss!
