The 6S Excellence Award program was developed by the NTMA Manufacturing Technology Team with the help of GF Agie Charmilles chairman Harry Moser as a way to recognize shops that employ higher standards of cleanliness and atmosphere. Shop housekeeping is an area for improvement by U.S. shops and raising more U.S. shops to a higher standard will improve recruiting, employee retention, productivity and sales.
The latest company to apply for and receive the NTMA 6S Excellence Award is Major Tool & Machine, an NTMA member company located in Indianapolis, IN. Major Tool & Machine joins the list of 6S Excellence Award winners Hobson & Motzer, of Durham, CT, Overton Industries, of Mooresville, IN, Toth Technologies, of Pennsauken, NJ, and Pointe Precision, of Plover, WI.
The NTMA 6S Award is open to all companies; just submit a 6S application together with an audit and photos, video or peer review, documenting each element. All submissions are reviewed and approved by the NTMA Technology Team. Once submissions are approved, awards are presented during the Awards Ceremony at the two annual NTMA conferences or they can be mailed.
Audit, worksheets, implementation instruction, training materials and photo examples are available online at the NTMA Library under 6S Excellence Program . The NTMA challenges your company to implement the 6S Excellence program. You will wonder why you waited.
