In AME’s free 6/29 webinar Harry C. Moser – Chairman Emeritus, Agie Charmilles, LLC discusses software for calculating TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for comparing offshore vs. local sources and describes the NTMA/PMA Purchasing Fairs where competitive U.S. sources can be found.
Session Title: Re-shoring: A key to a lean supply chain and robust manufacturing
Session Description:
Re-shoring (or “backshoring” or “onshoring”), the process of bringing offshored work back to the U.S., is a major trend in the rebirth of manufacturing jobs. There are many lean/sustainable benefits that flow from a shorter supply chain, such as:
· less inventory,
· smaller carbon footprint, and
· clustering benefits to innovation.
For many manufacturers (OEM’s) re-shoring provides a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for their supply chain through savings on duty, freight, travel, interest, and reduced intellectual property (IP) and regulatory risk. This virtual session will provide information and tools to support sourcing decision-making, including a TCO Estimator to help OEMs accurately and simply compare the total cost of local and offshored sources. All information and the tools presented will be made available to the session attendees.
