NTMA Sponsors Third Annual Manufacturing Day

National Tooling and Machining Association Sponsors Third Annual Manufacturing Day to Showcases Modern Manufacturing

Cleveland, OH – The National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of the third annual Manufacturing Day – MFG Day 2014.  MFG Day 2014, scheduled for October 3, is a grassroots effort by U.S. manufacturers to promote the sector and manufacturing careers.

NTMA joins other industry leaders in sponsoring this national event in which hundreds of manufacturers across the country host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.

“MFG Day provides an opportunity for companies to reach out to their local communities and demonstrate the high-tech world of today’s manufacturing sector,” said NTMA President Dave Tilstone.  “Students, teachers and parents can get a first-hand look at the great careers our sector has to offer.”

Tilstone continued, “We need to attract a new generation of Americans to fill the tens of thousands of skilled manufacturing job openings that exist today.  To do this, we must get the message out that manufacturing in the U.S. is growing.  In fact, our sector currently supports more than 17.4 million American jobs and comprises nearly 12% of our GDP.  MFG Day is a way for our member companies to open their doors and demonstrate the new, modern facilities that define manufacturing today.”

Past activities by NTMA chapters include open houses by member companies, joint programs with local community colleges and other events.  Stay tuned to the NTMA website for a list of member chapters who will be hosting special events on MFG Day.
